One of the most fascinating myths of the ancient world is the story about the bird PHOENIX.

According to the Greeks, the bird lives in Arabia, near a cool well. Every morning at dawn, the sun god would stop his chariot to listen to the bird sing a beautiful song while it bathed in the well.

Only one phoenix exists at a time. When the bird felt its death was near, every 500 to 1,461 years, it would build a nest of aromatic wood and set it on fire. The bird then was consumed by the flames.

A new phoenix sprang forth from the pyre. It embalmed the ashes of its predecessor in an egg of myrrh and flew with it to Heliopolis, "city of the sun," where the egg was deposited on the altar of the sun god.

For me this legendary bird PHOENIX became a symbol of renascence in times of crisis and so I made this painting when I was ready to undergo a treatment for Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms seventeen years ago :-).

This is a wonderful piece, Castor. And your story behind its creation is a touching one. The more I stop by the more I admire your work.

I would enjoy talking to you sometime. I'm an artist myself, you see. Take care.

depends. sometimes. specially when they say nice things that i want to believe ;)

also, i like some of linda goodman - just bcz of the way she writes - humourous and lyrical together

Had written this about my thoughts on zodiac signs (or related roughly)

Yeah - supposed to be one of the many symbols of scorpios - the phoenix, the eagle, the lizard, the scorpio - also the sign of zero - a serpent eating its own tail

dunno the orign or reliabilty - i had read it in linda goodman

----------I didn't know Linda Goodman, so I went to her website browsing there a bit ...
Was it by accident what I found there???:

"Oh, and on March 2, Bush will be taken to visit Gandhi's memorial in Rajghat. He's by no means the only war criminal who has been invited by the Indian government to lay flowers at Rajghat..."
