Hans, I just discovered that a comment I has made to your first Hadrian post never appeared.

There is a statue of Antinous in the big archeological museum in Naples that is stunningly beautiful. It's in almost perfect condition, just over life size and if he truly looked like that in life he was indeed worthy of an Emperor's obsession.

Of course, Hadrian's wife was NOT pleased. But what can you do?

Hadrian has always been one of my very favorite figures from antiquity. His villa at Tivoli is impressive and sad--the architecture is very revealing of his isolated life after the death of his beloved boy.

I see, sometime ago I have to go to Naples! At Tivoli I've been with my Roman friend Francesco 2 years ago and I was impressed a lot ... as you are telling, the "Villa" is imressive and sad.

Thank you, Spencer! All I need now is : RELAXATION RELAXING RELAXATION ... for at the hospital at the moment I'm doing the work for 3 persons, because one of my 2 collegues is ill and the other one is on vacation since last week ... But: only 11 days! :-)

Sirreene, you make me quite confused :-) the evening before my departure is naturally the 3rd of September :-)...
the 27th of August(and not September) is this Saturday :-) ... the correct time of my departure is Sunday, the 4th of September at 22:25 p.m. ;-) OK? ;-)
